After God's answer to Habbakuk about justice, habbakuk does not like what he hears! If they are coming to punish, how do You God allow them to indiscrimately destroy other human beings like fish! Why don"t they discern between the innocent and guilty? Is this justice?

When the nation treats other nations with lies and deceipt, that will soon enough become the way people within the kingdom treat each other. Nahum describes how assyria would lure other nations in with false promises like a sorcerer smiles at his/her victim, but then when entrapped they plunder and kill. For this, the nation of assyria will meet it's end, and noone will care.

Look to the mountains, as the messenger is arriving with wonderful news! Your oppressor, Nineveh, has been destroyed and you can now rebuild and celebrate. The prophet describes the destruction of Assyria. The people who tore up the world and killed and crushed the other nations and stole their wealth, the "den of lions" will no longer perpetrate his evil destruction on other peoples.

The people of Nineveh were given a chance to repent in the days of Jonah, and God spared them His punishment. But they continued in their evil ways. Nahum comes to deliver the message, you can "fool" God once, but if you persist in evil, God only has so much patience. Your actions have shown that you deserve to be punished.

Micah prays to God, shpherd your people and lead them back to psture in their ancient lands. Show the world how you are not like other false gods. You forgive, you are patient, and you do not hold on to Your anger forever. Show the peoples of the world to no longer remain in their fortresses of war, but to learn to fear God Himself. Bring truth to the promises You have made.

The prophet laments the lack of honesty and integrity in his generation. Like a harvester of figs that can find no ripe fruit to pick, there are no honest and trustworthy people anymore. All levels of leaderrship are corrupt, and people can't even trust their closet friends and family. But I the prophet will trust in God. He will bring be out of the darkness. So to the people of Israel, though they may go through dark times, God will bring them to light as well.

God calls Israel to court, "What wrong have I done?" "I took you out of Egypt, I saved you from Balak," shouldn't the people have some gratitude? It is not gifts of sacrifices though that i want from you, but justice, kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.

Micah describes the humility of the original King David and his origins. This is why I chose them to be the leaders in the days of the Messiah. The Jewish people scattered among the nations will be as dew and rain that brings the message of God to all the nations. Those that try to resist and refuse to humble themselves before God will be destroyed, while those that learn of God will be redeemed.

In a prophecy very reminiscent of his contemporary prophet Isaiah, Micah tells us of the day in the future that God will once again reign supreme. The nations of the world will come to Zion to learn His ways, and world peace will be established. We will beat our swords into plowshares, and justice will be the rule of the land. The nations that gloat now over Israel;s destruction don't understand God's ways, but one day they will come to know God. The knigdom of David will be reestablished in Zion.
